Slow…Children at Play—Improv Class/Training

Class overview:

Three-month(12 week) session
  • Mondays 7:00 - 10:00pm
  • Session runs January 14 – March 31, 2008
  • Broad scope training in improvisation. Curriculum will involve a diverse variety of improv exercises, games & scenes combined with mime, space work, basic elements & character choices.  Training will emphasize commitment to ‘yes and,’ spontaneity, stage awareness and always being in the moment.
  • Class fee $450. If three months(12 weeks) paid in advance,    

cost is $400—a savings of $50! Also payable in     
    three installments of $150/each.

      Upon completion of the twelve week session, students will participate in a one-night performance showcase on the final Monday evening of the intensive.

Classes will be conducted by S…CAP owner/director, Tim Simek, along with Laura Buckles, co-director of the The Deuce(2nd Tier performing division of S…CAP). Periodically, other S…CAP cast members participate/share with the class.

Tim Simek has been performing, producing & directing improv shows as well
as conducting improv & acting classes for over 15 years. He has extensive film & TV credits and is best-known for his role as the ‘Deputy’ in “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape.” Along with casting a number of indie projects, Simek is an award-winning speaker and performs with the Core division of S…CAP.

Laura Buckles has directed a variety of stage productions with the Attic Theatre as well as two seasons of the Toronto-based improv troupe, City Kids, where she was also a founding member. She was also writer/co-director of the award-winning short film, “Something About Last Night.” Buckles is also a regular performer with the Core division of S…CAP.

Slow..Children at Play{S…CAP} is now in its 10th year of performing comedy improv shows combined with sketch and multi-media. S…CAP has a strong audience base and continues to produce creative & fun comedy shows. Check out some of our videos at www.youtube.com/slowcap
